Hawken School offers high school students opportunities to explore medicine, clinical practice, and scientific inquiry through three distinctive programs.

The Paepke STEMM Research Program is available exclusively to Hawken students starting in 10th or 11th grade. Requiring three semesters plus a summer commitment, this sequence of research courses guides students through hands-on, lab-based research experiences and culminates in a judged poster symposium.

The Medical Sciences Pathways option, also created exclusively for Hawken students, begins in 10th grade and is designed for students interested in pursuing future careers in medicine and health professions. Students will also participate in both the STEMM Research Program and the Medical Sciences Semester.

The Medical Sciences Semester is an intensive, one-semester program open to Hawken students as well as visiting students from around the world. Designed for students in 10th through 12th grade who are at least 16 years old, it provides an immersive experience featuring hospital rotations alongside a Macro course.
Whether students are looking to conduct deep lab research or experience patient care firsthand, Hawken’s Medical Sciences programs provide the foundation and insight needed to pursue future careers in medicine and STEMM.
